Qkine supports the launch of the UK Stem Cell Network
There are many active local stem cell networks, however to widen the reach and research impact of the excellent work being undertaken locally, the UK Stem Cell Network (UKSCN) aims to re-establish a national network to serve the UK stem cell community.
Qkine has pledged full support for this endeavour and is a platinum sponsor of the network as well as providing other support and resources. We’re looking forward to attending the inaugural new UKSCN Meeting 16th-17th September 2025 in Manchester, UK.

Qkine strengthens its support for the cellular agriculture through provision of high quality food grade growth factors
We are delighted to announce the provision of a new range of high quality food grade growth factors as part of our commitment to driving innovation in the functional recombinant protein supply chain for emerging sectors.
Our high quality food grade proteins have been featured in the press!
Qkine freeze prices for 2025 in support of stem cell science
In these economically challenging times, Qkine is committed to supporting our customers, and therefore, we have decided to hold current prices into 2025. This will allow customers to continue to budget effectively and help them maximise the impact of innovations utilising stem cell science.
NEW APPLICATION NOTE
Hepatocyte-like cell differentiation using Qkine animal origin-free growth factors
The advancements in iPSC-derived hepatocyte differentiation underscore the potential for combining cutting-edge stem cell technologies with molecular biology to transform research, drug discovery, and regenerative therapies for liver-related conditions. This application note defines a protocol and key considerations for generating HLCs, highlighting the role of specific growth factors in achieving optimal differentiation outcomes.
For HLC differentiation from iPSC this application note uses Qkine recombinant activin A (Qk001), BMP-4 (Qk038), FGF2-G3 (Qk053), HGF NK1 (Qk013) and OSM (Qk049).
PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT – ORGANOIDS
Human activin A protein
Activin A is frequently used to maintain pluripotency in induced pluripotent and embryonic stem cell cultures. It is also used in many stem cell differentiation protocols, including endoderm lineage differentiation and the culture of cardiac and lung organoids.
Qkine activin A (Qk001) has equivalent bioactivity to activin A from an alternative major supplier.
Human noggin protein
Noggin is a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) antagonist which regulates cell differentiation and growth during embryonic development. Noggin is used in the culture of embryonic and pluripotent stem cells and to derive neural and microglial lineages. It can also be used to generate intestinal, pancreatic, lung, and tumor-derived organoids.
Qkine human noggin (Qk034) has comparable bioactivity to noggin from an alternative major supplier.
All our growth factors are manufactured within a stringent quality framework, ensuring high-quality proteins that maintain robust, reproducible, and physiologically relevant stem cell and organoid cultures that adhere to our Nine-point Quality Commitment.
