Marketing assistant

Location: Cambridge, UK

Full-time or part-time (school hours or 3+ days/week)

Qkine is a Cambridge, UK-based manufacturer of high-purity, animal-free growth factors, cytokines, and other complex proteins. We are looking for a marketing assistant to join our friendly and busy marketing team, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing. The candidate should have a can-do attitude and should feel comfortable in a quickly changing and fast-paced environment. We are looking for a team player who wants to learn and develop their skills and progress in a marketing career.

This is a hybrid or office-based role. A minimum of 3 days per week in our Cambridge-based office will be required. This role is offered as full-time or a minimum of 3+ days part-time and can support school hours if required.

As a growing and evolving company, the role will be varied and the main responsibilities will include:
– Event support – Organising all aspects of scientific events including being the main point of contact with organisers, arranging couriers, sorting and packing exhibition materials, liaising with the sales teams for requirements, and improving our events process in the future.
– Marketing collateral creation – learning basic skills of Adobe suite software (photoshop, InDesign, illustrator) and Canva to create and edit marketing collateral such as posters, flyers, and product information cards. Arranging professional and in-house printing.
– Marketing giveaways – creating and sourcing marketing giveaways to create customer delight.
– Marketing administration – assisting the sales and marketing teams with general CRM administration.
– Digital marketing assistance – monitoring and reporting on social media channels. Using social media scheduling tools to create and schedule posts. Using email marketing campaign tools to create customer and internal newsletters.
– Competitive analysis – carrying out market research to provide insights to the sales and marketing teams.
– Marketing communications – working with the team to create press releases and news updates. General proofreading and editing.
– General administrative support to the wider company where required.

You will have:
– A proactive attitude and a common-sense approach to tackling tasks
– An interest in B2B marketing
– A methodical and positive nature. You will need to be extremely organised, detail orientated, and can work well with multiple deadlines
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Business development manager

Location: Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge, UK

Home or office-based with flexible working, full time, or at least four days a week

We seek an experienced life sciences business development manager or sales professional to build customer relationships and drive revenue growth.

Reporting to the CEO, you will pro-actively build relationships with new and existing customers with a particular focus on the biotechnology market. You will have experience of sales or business development in the life sciences, an enquiring mind and a strong scientific background with interests in areas of science including stem cells, organoids, regenerative medicine and cellular agriculture. We are looking for a knowledgeable Protein Scientist to join our busy Manufacture team. You will hold a Life Science Degree and possess experience in a biochemistry, molecular biology or a related scientific discipline. Experience working in the Biotech industry would be desirable. Knowledge in producing high purity proteins and analysing their quality is essential for this position, with an understanding of scaling up protein production being advantageous. The successful candidate will work independently to set targets and plan work, have great attention to detail, good communication skills and a flexible approach. We are looking for proactive team players with a broad range of skills and definite can-do attitude.

You will have:

Experience in recombinant protein expression, purification and characterization.
Hands on knowledge in working with AKTA systems, or similar types of equipment, and ability to troubleshoot purification issues.
Experience of ELN platform and accurate data collection and presentation.
Working with a QMS such as ISO9001: 2015 or ISO13485 would be an advantage

Senior process development scientist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to join our busy R&D team and help lead the next stage of our facility expansion.

You will hold a PhD or possess equivalent experience in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related scientific discipline and must have at least +5 years experience in the Biotech industry. Extensive knowledge of process development and scaling protein production for manufacturing is essential. The successful candidate will identify process improvement areas across a variety of processes and teams, bringing in and validating new protocols and equipment to use within our product development and manufacturing pipelines. They will posses great attention to detail, good communication skills and a flexible approach. We are looking for proactive team players with a broad range of skills and definite can-do attitude.

You will have:
Extensive experience in construct design, recombinant protein expression, purification and characterization.
Hands on experience in working with AKTA systems, or similar types of equipment, and ability to troubleshoot purification issues.
Hands on experience with benchtop bio-reactors and freeze-drying equipment
Demonstrable experience of process development and innovation
Knowledge of ELN platform and accurate data collection and presentation.
