Laboratory

Senior Protein Scientist (R&D)

Location: Murdoch House, Cambridge, UK
Type: Full time

We are looking for an experienced Protein Scientist to join our busy R&D team. You will hold a PhD or possess equivalent experience in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related scientific discipline and must have a strong track record of research achievements. Extensive knowledge in producing and purifying complex proteins and analysing their quality is essential. Experience of working within the Biotech industry would be highly desirable, as would the scaling up of protein production for manufacturing. The successful candidate will work independently to set targets and plan work, along with troubleshooting issues and looking into protocol and process improvements. They will have great attention to detail, good communication skills and a “thinking outside the box” approach. We are looking for proactive team players with a broad range of skills and definite can-do attitude.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience in construct design, recombinant protein expression (e.g., E. coli, yeast, or plant), purification and characterization.
  • Hands on experience in working with AKTA systems, or similar types of equipment, and ability to troubleshoot purification issues.
  • Knowledge of ELN platform and accurate data collection and presentation.
  • Experience working with a QMS such as ISO9001: 2015 or ISO13485 would be an advantage.
