3D Bio-Tissues Ltd has developed CytoBoostâ„¢, the first range of medium additives especially designed for cell-care. In recent studies, the effect of two of 3D Bio-Tissues’ most versatile CytoBoost™ formulations, Perform and Maximise on the proliferation of myoblasts (muscle cells) and adipocytes (fat cells) were tested in serum-free conditions with Qkine growth factors IGF-1 (Qk047), HGF (Qk013) and FGF2-G3 (Qk052). Removal of serum and other animal-derived ingredients from culture media is a prerequisite for many bioprocessing applications due to accuracy, consistency, and/or ethical concerns. By mimicking crowding in vitro, CytoBoost™ enhanced muscle and fat cell proliferation, and improved culture performance and bioprocessing yields.

CytoBoost™ formulations, Perform and Maximise were also tested for their impact on the bioactivity of Qkine growth factors TGF-β1 PLUS (Qk010), TGF-β3 (Qk054), b/pFGF-2 (Qk056), FGF2-G3 (Qk053), EGF (Qk011) and IGF-1 (Qk047). By mimicking crowding in vitro CytoBoost™ offers a promising avenue for enhancing growth factor bioactivity and improving cell culture and bioprocessing outcomes.
