IL-6 family
Interleukin-6 family cytokines are a subgroup of the interleukin superfamily of cytokines. They are important regulators of cellular processes, such as gene activation, differentiation, and proliferation and signal through the common receptor subunit gp130. The interleukin-6 family of cytokines includes IL-6, IL-11, leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), oncostatin M (OSM), ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), cardiotrophin-like cytokine (CLC) and cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1).

IL-6 family cytokines function in regulation of the immune system and neural functions. They can be used in neural stem cell differentiation.
