Pep Talk

January 2024

Welcome to our first newsletter of the year, where we will be highlighting:

  • New additions to our portfolio

We recently launched GDF-5 and Interleukin-1 beta as part of our mesenchymal stem cell range. Manufactured in Cambridge, these proteins are animal-free, carrier protein-free and tag-free to ensure a homogenous population with exceptional lot-to-lot consistency.

  • Resources to help your research

Check out our latest resources, including an exciting technote on TGF-β3, showcasing high bioactivity compared to another major supplier. Read our latest blog post on the considerations for the use of high-purity recombinant growth factors in cellular agriculture applications.

  • Promotions and events

After attending some fantastic events in 2023, our team are excited to get back out to meet our customers and collaborators in 2024. There is also still time to take advantage of our latest promotional offer when you switch to Qkine recombinant proteins. More information below.

Qkine recombinant GDF-5 protein vial

New product

Highly pure, animal-free GDF-5

As part of our mesenchymal stem cell range, GDF-5 is a growth factor commonly used to differentiate stem cells into osteoblasts and chondrocytes.

Manufactured in our Cambridge facility, this animal-free and carrier-protein-free recombinant protein comes with our bioactivity guarantee and excellent lot-to-lot consistency.

Each lot is fully tested for sterility, including the absence of mycoplasma, as standard.

New product

Highly bioactive IL-1 beta

Our recently launched recombinant human Interleukin-1 beta is used to stimulate and activate immune cells (macrophages and T cells), maintain hematopoietic progenitor cells, and modulate the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.

This protein is animal-free, carrier protein-free, and tag-free to ensure a homogenous population with exceptional lot-to-lot consistency.

Technote

TGF-β3 with evidence for high bioactivity

Read our technote, which demonstrates the comparable bioactivity of Qkine TGF-β3 to bacterial-expressed TGF-β3 from an alternative major supplier. Qkine TGF-β3 improves the pluripotency maintenance of embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells due to its high reproducible bioactivity and purity.

Considerations for the use of high-purity recombinant growth factors in cellular agriculture applications

Cultivated meat is a nascent industry with a developing regulatory framework, with distinct regional differences. There are, however, some shared themes across regulatory frameworks and best practices.

Promotion

Optimize your budget when you switch to Qkine recombinant proteins.

We are offering all new customers 30% discount across our whole portfolio for 3 months from the first purchase. This promotion is valid until 31 March 2024. Full terms and conditions can be found on our website or by contacting our team.

Upcoming event

WORD+2024 | 27th-28th February 2024 | Cambridge, UK

Qkine are proud to be supporting World Organoid Research Day+ 2024. The two-day event will feature Organoid and Organ-on-a-chip talks by leaders in the industry, including Professor Thomas Hartung and Dr Valentina Fossati.
