Qkine human glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) bioactivity is comparable to an alternative supplier protein
Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) is a member of neurotrophin family. GNDF is used to maintain neurons and cortical organoids and to differentiate dopaminergic neurons from human pluripotent stem cell-derived neural progenitors. GDNF also facilitates the differentiation of neural progenitors to astrocytes.
Qkine GDNF (Qk051) is animal origin-free, carrier protein-free and tag-free to ensure high and consistent bioactivity.
Qkine GDNF (Qk051) Bioactivity
- GDNF (Qk051) stimulated proliferation of SH-SY5Y cells with an EC50 of 24.72 ng/ml.
- This was comparable to GDNF from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 24.66 ng/ml.
Qkine GDNF was as bioactive as GDNF from an alternative major supplier. SH-SY5Y cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine GDNF (Qk051, green) or Peprotech GDNF (450-10, Supplier B, black) and a standard concentration of retinoic acid and recombinant GFR α1 for 72 hours. Cell viability was measured using the CellTiter-Glo (Promega) luminescence assay. Protein concentrations were measured before use (Peprotech vial recovery 76%, Qkine 97%). Firefly luciferase activity was measured and normalized to control Renilla luciferase activity.
Qkine recombinant proteins are highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of stem cells and organoids.
