Technote | TNF-α (Qk083)
Qkine tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is as biologically active as a comparable alternative supplier protein
Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is a cytokine involved in cell signaling, primarily produced by immune cells like macrophages.
Qkine recombinant TNF-alpha is animal origin-free, carrier-free and protein tag-free to ensure its purity and is suitable for the culture of reproducible and high-quality hematopoietic stem cells and other relevant cells.
Qkine TNF-alpha bioactivity
- Qkine TNF-alpha (Qk083) was bioactive in a quantitative assay with an EC50 of 1.5 ng/ml (87 pM).
- This was slightly more bioactive than TNF-alpha from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 2.5 ng/ml (145 pM).

Qkine TNF-α had comparable bioactivity to a alternative supplier protein. Bioactivity was determined using a NF-κB firefly luciferase reporter assay. Transfected HEK293T cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine TNF-α (Qk083, green) or Peprotech TNF-α (300-01A, Supplier B, black) for 3 hours. Firefly luciferase activity was measured and normalized to the control Renilla luciferase activity. Data from Qk083 #204609.
Qkine recombinant proteins have the advantage of being highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of hematopoietic stem cells.
All our recombinant proteins are animal-free and come with Bioactivity. Guaranteed.
