Technote | IGF-1 (Qk047)
Qkine IGF-1 is stable and bioactive up to 7 days in cell culture conditions
Human insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) protein is used in the maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and is necessary for cell growth in the absence of insulin. Recombinant IGF-1 promotes the proliferation of many cell types, including embryonic stem cells (ESC) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC).
Qkine IGF-1 LR3 stability
- After 7 days Qkine IGF-1 (Qk047) bioactivity was equivalent to fresh IGF-1, with an EC50 at day 0 of 11.2 ng/ml and at day 7 EC50 17.2 ng/ml.
- No degradation of protein was seen in an SDS-PAGE gel after 2 or 7 days.

Stability and bioactivity of Qkine IGF-1. SDS-PAGE of recombinant IGF-1 (A), protein was not degraded when incubated in HEK293T conditioned media for 7 days. Bioactivity was determined using an IGF-1-responsive firefly luciferase reporter assay (B). Transfected HEK293T cells were treated in triplicate for 4 hours with a serial dilution of IGF-1 which had been pre-incubated in conditioned media for 7 days. Firefly luciferase activity was measured and normalized to the control Renilla luciferase activity.
Qkine IGF-1 (Qk047) is stable and bioactive under cell culture conditions for up to 7 days. Qkine proteins highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of human pluripotent stem cells.
All our recombinant proteins are animal-free and come with Bioactivity. Guaranteed.
