Qkine Neurotrophin 3 (NT3) is as biologically as a comparable alternative supplier protein

Neurotrophin 3 (NT-3) protein is used in cell culture to promote the differentiation and survival of specific neural subpopulations in both the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system such as sensory neurons, cortical neurons, and oligodendrocytes.

Qkine NT3 (Qk058) is animal origin-free, carrier protein-free and tag-free to ensure high and consistent bioactivity.

• NT-3 (Qk058) was bioactive in a quantitative luciferase assay with EC50 of 16.5 ng/ml (0.6 nM).
• This was comparably to NT-3 from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 23.1 ng/ml (0.85 nM).

Qkine NT-3 was found to be as bioactive as NT-3 from an alternative major supplier. Bioactivity was determined using the Promega serum response element (SRE) luciferase reporter assay in HEK293T cells co-transfected with TrkA. Cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine NT3 (Qk058, green) or Peprotech (450-03-10UG, Supplier B, black) for 3 hours. Protein concentrations were corrected for vial recovery before use (Peprotech vial recovery 116%). Firefly luciferase activity is measured and normalized to control Renilla luciferase activity. Qkine recombinant proteins are more cost effective and have the advantage of having high and consistent vial recovery. They are highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of neural stem cells.
