Qkine thrombopoietin (TPO) is more biologically active than a comparable alternative supplier protein
Thrombopoietin (TPO) is a cytokine which stimulates the production and differentiation of megakaryocytes, regulating platelet production. Recombinant TPO can be used to support the self-renewal and maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells.
Qkine TPO (Qk098) has been manufactured to be highly pure and bioactive for reproducible hematopoietic stem cell culture.
Qkine TPO bioactivity
- Qkine TPO (Qk098) was highly bioactive in a quantitative luciferase assay with EC50 of 4.7 ng/ml.
- This was >17x more bioactive than TPO from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 70.2 ng/ml.

Quantitative luciferase reporter assay shows Qkine TPO was more bioactive than an alternative supplier protein. Recombinant TPO activity was determined using a Promega serum response element luciferase reporter assay in HEK293T cells co-transfected with TPOR. Cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine TPO (Qk098, green) or Peprotech TPO (Supplier B, black) for 3 hours. Firefly activity was measured and normalized to the control Renilla luciferase activity. Data from Qk098 lot #204752.
