Technote | M-CSF (Qk075)
Qkine Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (M-CSF) is as biologically active as the comparable alternative supplier protein
M-CSF has been used in vitro for the differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived macrophages as well as the maintenance and development of monocytes in hematopoietic stem cell culture. M-CSF has also been used to influence macrophage polarization towards an anti-inflammatory or M2 macrophage phenotype.
Qkine M-CSF (Qk075) is animal origin-free, carrier protein-free and tag-free to ensure high and consistent bioactivity.
Qkine M-CSF bioactivity
- Qkine M-CSF (Qk075) stimulated proliferation of NFS-60 mouse myeloid leukemia cells with an EC50 of 11.8 ng/ml.
- This was comparable to Supplier B M-CSF bioactivity with an EC50 of 9.5 ng/ml.
M-CSF activity was determined using the proliferation of NFS-60 mouse myeloid leukemia cells. Cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine M-CSF (Qk075, green) or Peprotech (300-25, Supplier B, black) for 48 hours. Protein concentrations were measured before use (Peprotech vial recovery 101%, Qkine 101%). Cell viability was measured using the CellTiter-Glo (Promega) luminescence assay and normalized. Data from Qk075 lot #204507.
Qkine M-CSF has the advantage of being highly pure and animal origin-free, giving batch-to-batch consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of myeloid cells and other relevant hematopoietic cells.
