Technote | IFN-gamma (Qk117)
Qkine IFN-gamma is as biologically active as a comparable alternative standard protein
IFN-gamma (interferon-gamma) is a cytokine crucial for immune responses, produced by T cells and natural killer cells. It activates macrophages, enhances antigen presentation, and plays a key role in inflammation.
Qkine IFN-gamma (Qk117) manufacture has been optimized to produce a highly bioactive protein which is animal origin-free, carrier protein-free and tag-free.
Qkine IFN-gamma bioactivity
- Qkine IFN-gamma (Qk117) was bioactive in a quantitative assay with an EC50 of 0.62 ng/ml.
- This was comparable to bioactivity of IFN-gamma standard from SBH Sciences, which had an EC50 of 0.70 ng/ml.
Qkine IFN-gamma was as bioactive as IFN-gamma from an alternative supplier. Bioactivity was determined by a cytotoxicity assay using HT-29 cells. Cells were treated in duplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine IFN-gamma (Qk117, green) for 88.5 hours. Cell viability was measured using the CellTiter 96 AQueous Cell Proliferation Assay (Promega). Assay was performed by SBH Sciences using their standard (black) for comparison. Data from Qk117 lot #204692.
Qkine recombinant proteins have the advantage of being highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of immune and stem cells.
