Technote | FGF-1 (Qk071)
Qkine fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1) bioactivity is comparable to an alternative supplier protein
Fibroblast Growth Factor 1 (FGF-1) can stimulate growth and differentiation of endothelial and epithelial cells and the development of organoids. FGF-1 can also be used for the maintenance of oligodendrocytes and astroglia as well as bone marrow-derived mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells.
Qkine FGF-1 (Qk071) is animal origin-free (AOF), carrier protein-free, tag-free and non-glycosylated to ensure high and consistent bioactivity.
Qkine FGF-1 bioactivity
- FGF-1 (Qk071) was bioactive in a quantitative luciferase assay with EC50 of 0.74 ng/ml (46.6 pM).
- This was comparable to FGF-1 from an alternative supplier, which had an EC50 of 0.61 ng/ml (38.4 pM).
Qkine FGF-1 bioactivity was comparable to FGF-1 from an alternative major supplier. HEK293T luciferase reporter cells were treated in triplicate with a serial dilution of Qkine FGF-1 (Qk071, green) or Peprotech FGF-1 (100-17A, Supplier B, black) for 3 hours. Protein concentrations were corrected for vial recovery before use (Peprotech vial recovery 60%, Qkine 115%). Firefly luciferase activity was measured and normalized to control Renilla luciferase activity. Data from Qk071 lot #204537.
Qkine recombinant proteins have the advantage of being highly pure and animal origin-free, giving lot-to-lot consistency in bioactivity for long-term reproducible culture of stem cells and organoids.
